HERITAGE COLLECTION
Warm · Natural · Timeless
Our Heritage Collection celebrates the natural beauty and character of solid timber, with a carefully selected range of warm and traditional finishes.
From the pale simplicity of natural unfinished timber and the golden warmth of Classic Amber, through to rich, characterful browns, each finish is designed to enhance the grain, knots and individual features that make every piece unique.
Natural Unfinished
For those who prefer the beauty of timber in its natural state or would like to apply their own finish.
Furniture is supplied unfinished, allowing you to apply your choice of wax, oil, stain or other suitable timber finish. Natural timber will vary in tone, grain and character from piece to piece.
Classic Amber
A warm, golden-amber finish that brings out the natural grain and character of the timber.
Classic Amber has a distinctive warm appearance with golden and orange undertones, making it a great choice for traditional, rustic and farmhouse interiors.
Antique Brown
A light, natural brown finish with subtle warmth, giving the timber a soft and understated aged appearance.
Antique Brown is ideal for those wanting a traditional wood tone without going too dark, allowing plenty of the natural grain and character to remain prominent.
Heritage Brown
A classic mid-brown finish with warm, traditional tones that enhance the natural grain and character of the timber.
A versatile choice that sits comfortably between our lighter and darker finishes, Heritage Brown works particularly well with rustic, farmhouse and traditional furniture styles.
Burnished Brown
A warm brown finish with subtle reddish undertones, creating a rich and characterful appearance.
Its warmer colouring gives Burnished Brown a distinctive look within the collection and works beautifully where a richer wood tone is wanted without the depth of our darkest finish.
Foundry Brown
A deep, rich brown finish with darker tones that strongly accentuate the grain and natural character of the timber.
Foundry Brown is the darkest of our Heritage finishes and is ideal for creating a bold, traditional appearance while retaining the texture and individuality of real timber.
CONTEMPORARY COLLECTION
Our Contemporary Collection offers a modern palette of versatile finishes, ranging from soft white and grey tones through to striking blacks.
Each finish is designed to enhance the natural character of the timber while creating a clean, stylish appearance suited to both contemporary and industrial interiors. The grain, knots and individual characteristics of the solid timber remain an important part of the finished piece.
Nordic Whitewash
A soft, pale whitewashed finish that lightens the timber while allowing the natural grain and character to remain visible.
Nordic Whitewash creates a fresh, understated appearance and works particularly well in light, neutral and Scandinavian-inspired interiors.
Coastal Grey
A soft, weathered grey finish with subtle natural undertones, giving the timber a relaxed and contemporary appearance.
Coastal Grey retains plenty of visible grain and character while introducing a lighter grey tone that works beautifully with neutral interiors and natural materials.
Graphite
A deep charcoal-grey finish that retains the natural timber grain while creating a clean, modern look.
Sitting between the lighter greys and darker black finishes, Graphite is a versatile choice for contemporary and industrial interiors where a strong colour is wanted without going completely black.
Weathered Black
A characterful black finish with a deliberately weathered appearance, allowing areas of the natural timber and grain to show through.
The result is a darker, more rustic finish than Graphite while retaining considerably more variation and character than Jet Black. It works particularly well with industrial-style furniture and black metalwork.
Jet Black
A deep, solid black finish for a bold, clean and contemporary appearance.
Jet Black provides the strongest and most uniform dark finish in the collection while still retaining the texture and character associated with solid timber. It is particularly effective for statement pieces and modern monochrome interiors.
Choosing Your Finish
Choosing the right finish can completely change the character of a piece of furniture. Our Heritage Collection offers warmer, traditional wood tones that enhance the natural richness of the timber, while our Contemporary Collection introduces lighter whites and greys through to deeper charcoal and black finishes.
The finish samples shown are intended to help you compare the overall colour and character of each option. If you’re unsure which finish will work best in your home, you’re always welcome to get in touch for advice.
The Natural Character of Solid Timber
Every piece of Lichfield Furniture Company furniture is individually handmade from solid timber, and natural variation is an important part of its character.
Grain patterns, knots, colour variation and other natural markings will differ from board to board. Our rustic preparation and finishing process is designed to complement these features rather than hide them, meaning no two pieces will ever be exactly the same.
Because timber naturally varies in colour and how it accepts a finish, the final appearance may differ slightly from the examples shown. Lighting, photography and individual screen settings can also affect how colours appear online.
These variations aren’t imperfections — they’re part of what makes genuine solid timber furniture unique.
Made to Order, Finished for You
Every piece is made to order, so your chosen finish is applied specifically to your furniture as part of the making process.
If you’re trying to coordinate a new piece with existing furniture, flooring or your interior colour scheme, please feel free to send photographs when enquiring and I’ll be happy to help you choose the most suitable finish.
Custom Painted Finishes
Selected pieces can also be supplied with a painted finish, offering another way to tailor your furniture to your home.
Painted bases and cabinetry can be combined with one of our timber finishes to create a contrasting two-tone look, or used more extensively depending on the design of the piece.
We can work with colours from premium paint ranges such as Farrow & Ball, allowing you to choose a colour that complements your existing décor.
As painted finishes are a custom option, suitability will depend on the furniture design. If you have a particular colour in mind, please get in touch and we can discuss the options.
